After almost 36 hours of nonstop work, team NineNine, (CTIS students Abdurahman Atakishiyev, Ping Cheng, Zeyad Abuamer and CS student Hikmet Demir) were able to secure second place in the Cyber Security Hackathon sponsored by Türkiye Siber Güvenlik Kümelenmesi and Bilkent University Young Entrepreneurs Society. Students from all around Turkey attended this hackathon which took place in Cyberpark from 8 am Saturday 31st Nov to 8 pm 1st Dec. Their idea, Web Vulnerabilities Incidents Detection using Machine Learning, was a success. They implemented and deployed two microservices in this short period using Python, Tornado, Firebase, and a Digital Ocean Droplet. On the frontend, they had an interactive SPA dashboard using React and Redux. On the Machine Learning side, they trained various models until they reached an accuracy of up to 99.5% on attack variants like SQLi, XSS using Scipy Kit and NLTK. They had a fully working prototype at the end of the Hackathon that they presented in an attractive and detailed manner to 8 jury members.
