"Never forget to take your pills!" The main aim of SmartMed is to develop a smart medication information system which helps to inform the elderly to take their pills on time and keep track of their drug usage. A mobile application, web application, a backend application, and a medication box will be developed as part of overall project. Health service employees, namely doctors, nurses, and pharmacists, will be able to enter treatment plans to the system via the web application. The mobile application will get notifications from the backend server regarding the timings of the medications and notify the user. Also, these notifications will be sent to the Smart Medication Box, which is an IoT device, that will make use of a buzzer and a light to notify the user. The users can easily keep track of their drug usage via the mobile application on either Android or iOS devices. The Smart Medication Box will guide them to take their pills and will keep track of the amount of medication left in the box as well. If an elder person does not take their pills on time or forgets to take them, the system will notify their relatives about it.
