The goal of the “Scan & Book” project is to make the process of finding free seating areas for students easier and faster. Although the current scope of the project is for seating areas in Bilkent University the application shall be versatile and can be adapted to any other institution just as easily. Our objective is to make the most use of the already available seating areas by regulating how much time students spend in one seating area to prevent people from occupying tables all day long and regulating how many seats one person can occupy at a time so that we can maximize efficiency of the already existing areas. The application includes features such as a real-time seating plan interface, user authentication with e-mail confirmation, and seat reservation management. The system will keep information on seat availability in a database and will provide a user-friendly interface for students to reserve seats without having to physically be in the building.
