BorderBuy is a web application that helps travelers from Türkiye decide whether a product is cheaper to buy abroad or at home. The user searches for a product and chooses the country they will visit. BorderBuy finds the same product in stores in that country and in Türkiye, converts all prices to Turkish lira with current exchange rates, and calculates the real cost of buying abroad: the shelf price minus the tax-free (VAT) refund, plus any Turkish customs duty above the passenger allowance. The result shows the user how much they would save or lose, in Turkish lira and in percent. Users can also compare a whole shopping basket at once, see which products are worth buying in a country they plan to visit, and, when they visit several countries, see in which of them each product is cheapest.
