After Turkey has gained the EU membership candidate status, and Bilkent University has joined the program, CTIS department formed a committee in 2005 and started the work to facilitate the students to participate in the Erasmus Exchange Program and to improve the education quality.
At first, CTIS has signed two bilateral aggrements with two institutions, Evtek Institute of Technology in Finland and Athlone Institute of Technology in Ireland. In 2005-2006 Academic Year, two students were selected and sent to Evtek IT.
In 2006, two additional bilateral aggrements were signed with institutions from Ireland: Waterford IT and IT Carlow. Therefore the number of partner institutions has reached to four.
CTIS signed two bilateral aggrements Rochester Institute of Technology, (Croatia) and Linnaeus University (Sweden)in 2015.
